It was followed by discussions within three breakout groups who were asked to identify priorities for education, research and service provision. The day started with a series of brief presentations from invited speakers. The meeting was intended as the beginning of a process rather than an end in itself and important topics for further work including defining the scope of the project were identified. A one-day event was held on Tuesday 5 July at the University of Liverpool London Campus and these are the proceedings of that meeting. An expert workshop was convened and key stakeholders were invited. The Council of the UK Chapter identified emergency care for people after a seizure as a priority topic.
